Featuring a warm, rich vocal performance from Barnes, “Something Else Tonight” tells an after-dark tale about finding a different kind of love, one that seems to be of cinematic proportions:
That moon’s got something on it
Feels like a movie don’t it
Ain’t just those diamonds in the sky
It’s something else tonight
First sight and falling baby
Ain’t sounding quite as crazy
Lord knows I’ve never been that guy
But it’s something else tonight
Written by hitmakers Jason Sellers (Joe Nichols’ Billboard No. 1 “Sunny and 75”), Easton Corbin, and Marv Green (Lonestar’s BMI Song of the Year, “Amazed”), this mid-tempo country love story was co-produced by GRAMMY-nominated Derek George (Joe Nichols, Randy Houser) and Ilya Toshinskiy (Jelly Roll).
“Growing up in small-town Michigan, I saw a lot of films at our local movie theater, and ‘Something Else Tonight’ is about falling in love and suddenly feeling like you’re in one of those movies,” says Barnes. “It’s a song that just makes you feel good, whether you’re already in love or you’d like to be.”
“Something Else Tonight” is the second song release from Barnes’ upcoming full-length debut album, slated for release in early 2025. The first song from the album, the summertime anthem “Love in the Country,” dropped in June.
Barnes will be back on the road next month, opening for Trace Adkins in Troy, Ohio, on Friday, Nov. 7, as part of the multi-platinum-selling country star’s “Somewhere in America Tour.”
